History of the EURO-OES-SHOW

For many years breeders and lovers of the Old English Sheepdog had felt the need to have contact with each other on European level to discuss the clubs, activities, development of the breed, et cetera. The ultimate aim: improvement of the breed. This also was the item which was discussed by some European breeders, the night after the International Show in Trieste 1987. On that night the foundation was laid for further European cooperation. It was the idea of Roberto Arcion (I), Joachim Pilz (D), Barbara Muller (CH), Claude Ritter (F), Eef ter Mors (NL) and Pedro Frean (E) embraced this thought and promised each other to stand strong together to keep this movement going. At first the idea was to establish an European OES club, but that thought was quickly abandoned. The various national clubs in Europe are too busy in their own country with organizing everything and besides that there are overall national and international organizations. There was the fear - in case of starting an European OES Club - that administrative and bureaucratic procedures would mean the end of the initiative. The first instance the forum has been meaning to stimulate that each year, in a different European country, an Euro-OES-Show is organized. To guarantee the continuity of this show and to give it a personal quality, the forum has drafted a few rules of integrity. The national clubs cannot organize this European show unless they have agreed to respect these rules as much as possible. The Italian club was the first club to organize this show in 1988 and it was a great succes. From that moment on the organisation was growing and growing. A big boost for the popularity of this show came a view years later from the Scandinavian participants who gives, after the gala-diner, a great playback show.

True the years the National organisation commitees organize more activities round this event and at this moment there is a welcome to the guests at friday, an excursion, a golf tournament, a seminar and an informal diner at saturday, then of course the show on sunday and after the show...... the grand finale "the gala diner". Fantastic the way people, connected with there love for the same breed, building a great party together, still stimulated by the Scandinavian !!
